PREPARATION FOR YOUR HAIR TRANSPLANT WITH DR SHINTRE
Preparing for your FUE hair transplant is essential to a successful procedure. We provide detailed preoperative instructions to optimize the outcome and minimize potential risks, complications, side effects and/or allergic reactions. These instructions include avoiding alcohol for 48 hours before your transplant, refraining from taking Vitamin E, getting plenty of rest and sleep the night before your procedure, avoiding certain medications as advised by your doctor, and eating a light breakfast on the morning of your procedure. Our comprehensive preoperative guide will provide the necessary information to prepare for your hair restoration journey. Please make us aware of all drugs or medications that you are currently taking. You must continue to take any prescribed medications. Please inform us of any health conditions that you have. We are especially concerned in the areas of bleeding, clotting, healing difficulties, heart disease, heart murmurs and keloids. Do not consume any Aspirin, Turmeric/Ginger, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve or Vitamin E/Fish oil products for 14 days before your procedure. If you use any nicotine products, please inform us immediately. You must stop any nicotine products such as cigarettes, vapes, pouches and gum for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure. WHAT HAPPENS DURING YOUR FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT PROCEDURE
FUE is performed under local anesthesia in a clinic setting, much like a dental office. Most patients tolerate local anesthesia very well unless you have predisposed allergies which you should communicate to your surgeon. You can nap, relax, converse, watch a movie/TV, or chat with our team during your FUE procedure. You can also take bathroom and meal breaks.

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. Individual hair follicles (naturally occurring groups of one to four hairs) are manually extracted from the patient’s scalp. These extracted follicles are then implanted into bald or thinning areas around the head.
The duration varies based on the technique (FUE or FUT) and the number of grafts needed. FUE sessions typically take several hours, while FUT may take longer due to strip harvesting and graft dissection.
Local anesthesia is used during the procedure, so you won’t feel pain. Some discomfort or mild soreness may occur afterward, but it’s manageable by taking Tylenol.
